FABULOUS 50's DANCE PARTY
SEPTEMBER 25th, 2010
Let's go back a few decades to a time when life seemed much simpler. The 1950's!The average yearly salary was around $3,000 and only the lucky families owned a color TV. Little girls yearned to be Barbie and the boys all wanted to be Davy Crockett and wear a coonskin hat. Teenage girls all wore poodle skirts with lots of crinoline and bobby socks, while the guys wore cuffed blue jeans with white t-shirts. If you wanted to be cool you might roll up a pack of cigarettes in the sleeve. American Bandstand was the hottest show on television for the teens as it brought you the latest hits and dances right into your living room each week. Drive-in's were the place to go if you weren't hanging out at your favorite burger joint. And "Father knew best" and everyone "Loved Lucy". So dress the part and let's all get cool as we return to the Fabulous Fifties.
Attend or contribute to "Light the Night"
Light the Night is the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's evening walk and fundraising event. It is held all over the US and is a night to pay tribute and bring hope to thousands of people who are battling blood cancers. This years event will be held on Thursday October 7th at LP Field. Team DanceQuest raised over $3,000 last year. This year is a tribute to Jim who fought so hard and with such strength and dignity. As many of you know Jim walked last year after just getting out of the hospital. He will be with us in spirit this year cheering us on and so grateful we are helping others. Let's raise more this year and help find a cure.
Ever wanted to go out dancing but didn't know where? There are lots of things to consider. Postage stamp size dance floor, smoky atmosphere, music too loud, trouble finding parking spaces, etc… And then the music selection!!! Can anybody actually dance that THAT? Well we have the perfect solution. Attend our Friday Night Dance and have all the room you need to become the Fred and Ginger you want to be. No smoking is allowed inside the ballroom. Lots of parking and it's a safe environment for everyone, including singles. The DJ plays a wide variety of music to dance to and refreshments are served throughout the evening. And best of all --- you'll meet some of the friendliest people in town. Come join us in all the fun and dance the night away this Friday. Open to the public.
